Celebrating 250 Super Safe Kids live shows was made special this spring with the students and teachers of Ruby Young Personalized STEAM Academy in Desoto, Texas. The show features trained performers, music, and giveaways and teaches children what to do if they encounter electrical equipment. In its first six years, Super Safe Kids reached over 50 independent school districts and some 125,000 students. We're grateful to the many schools, administrators and teachers who share their time with us to bring real-world safety skills to thousands of young students each year. We look forward to continuing our longstanding commitment to safety and serving our community. 📌 Important #SafetyTip: Oncor will NEVER contact customers to request money or payment of any kind in exchange for restoring power or for keeping your power on. Utility imposters & scammers attempt to steal money & important personal information from others by calling, texting, emailing, messaging, or appearing in person with fake disconnection threats or urgent repair needs that can only be processed once an immediate payment is made. Oncor will NEVER contact you with a phone call, text, online messenger apps like WhatsApp or social media direct message, email, or in person and request a payment if any kind. Know the signs to spot a utility imposter & safeguard your money & information. #StopScams

Every year, #LinemanAppreciationDay is an opportunity to uniquely recognize and honor the hard work, sacrifice, and long history of lineworkers across our communities. From installing new power lines to troubleshooting outages during emergencies, their work is essential to powering Texas. As a part of today’s day of celebration, we’re spotlighting Oncor linemen Matt Martinez and Enrique Salazar and what their work as linemen means to them. Every day, rain or shine, snow or heat, our dedicated linemen answer the call to duty to keep the lights on and our communities connected. Today, and every day, we thank them for all they do.

Vicky Rivas's 50-year legacy (and counting) with the company began as Oncor's first female lineman. As a trailblazer and among some of the first female lineworkers across the country, we celebrate Rivas's story this #LinemanAppreciationDay as we send a heartfelt thank you to all linemen who answer the call to serve our communities. #thankalineman “I had to carry my own,” Rivas said. “I had to do twice as much just to be considered half as good, as the saying goes. But the more they razzed, the more I said ‘Watch me.’ You finally earn their respect when you can do the job as well as any of them.” Within five years of beginning her career in 1978, she progressed from a helper to a third- and second-class lineman to the title of first-class lineman, the equivalent of today’s Journeyman Lineman. Along the way, she earned the respect of her male coworkers and supported the evolution of being a part of a traditionally male-dominated field and industry. Today, Rivas is a Sr. Distribution Services Operator within Oncor's Distribution Team Today and every day we honor and thank our linemen and their dedication, hard work, and sacrifice to serve millions of Texans day and night, rain or shine.
